Sad!!!!!!!!!!

I am so sad! I wasn't able to watch Idol last night because of an increasing pile of homework, but I did catch the fox news broadcast afterward, and I have to say, I am deeply saddened! I loved Chikezie and I have always thought he's done well. It's super sad to see him go and I don't know how I'm going to handle it. There are many others that are much more deserving to go...

An Open Letter to Paula

Dear Paula~

I respect you, I really do.

Back in the 80's you were one of my American Idols. You had a good voice and some awesome moves. One of my favorite dances ever with my dance team was to "Straight Up". I also loved the "Opposites Attract" video of you dancing with that cat.

I know time has gone by, you've gotten older, life has come at you and you're not a "spring chicken" anymore. Some might even say you're past your prime.

I know your lucid moments are few and far between. I really appreciate it when you try and save those precious moments of lucidity for Tuesday and Wednesday nights. I know you aren't always successful, but the effort isn't lost on me.

However, please...when your inner voice tells you to don a chain mail halter top and finger-less gloves...tell it to SHUT UP!

A Different Take

Alright after reading everybody's post I am going to have to take an opposite standpoint.
We will start with Ramiele. She has a better voice than me, but I would not buy a ticket to her show. She doesn't know how to entertain.
Syesha and Chikeze have a great voice but I'm not a fan of their performances. Can you picture them singing to a stadium of people?
Brooke all I can say is wow. I love the songs she sings and think that she is so talented. I love that she changes the sound of a popular song to her own personal style.
Michael's song was okay. I think he kind of gets lost in the talent of American Idol.
I think Carly rocks! That song is a favorite from high school! We would rock to that in the car,(of course the car only played 8 tracks and that was the only one that worked :) I think that she is a great performer and love every song she sings.
David A is where I have to disagree with everyone. I thought that was a fun song. No I haven't heard it before but it had a great beat. I could sing along with it on the radio.
Kristy needs Nashville Star, I think that is really her niche.
Then we save the best for last. David Cook is great. He and Brooke are the best, I love how they change it up. It took me a minute to realize he was singing Michael Jackson because it was so different. I LOVED IT! Can we say let's just put him through to the final.

Alright so there are my ramblings for last night. Did anyone catch a look at Randy's bracelets? I think that he made them here at Beadles. (a bead jewelery making store in Logan) Right Marianne?

Kamie, Me and Mike decided that Paula found an old torn up fishing net and tried to make an outfit out of it. Then added the ugly, hideous gloves to give it and 80's look. lol. Not cute!

My recap of the evening:

Ramiele was just blah. Jason was okay, but nothing spectacular. Syesha, I thought did a really good job. She's got an amazing voice, but she's just not entertaining to me. Chikezie also has a good voice, but I've never been impressed with his performances either. With the exception of last week. I really liked his last weeks performance. Brooke did and awesome job. She is still one of my favorites. I agree with everyone else about the band. I think she should have kept the band out of it. :) Michael...I just don't like the guy. I wasn't real impressed with his performance either. To me it looks like he's trying to hard, and I still think the only reason he is still in is because of his accent. Carly did a really good job. I hated her dress, but liked the performance overall. David A, I agree with Randy that he can sing anything and make it sound good. That was an aweful song, but I still liked the performance. Kristy, her facial expressions bug me, but I think this is her best performance so far. David C is still my overall favorite. He has never dissapointed me. I loved his last nights performance. It took me a minute to figure out what he was singing. I loved it!!

I think that Ramiele, Chekezie, and Kristy are gonna be the bottom 3. I think Ramiele is gonna go. I hope she goes anyways.

Jenny's Thoughts on Top 10

As a whole, I think this week was better than the past two weeks. I think the singers felt more comfortable and familiar with these songs. Here's my recap of the night!

Ramiele: There were a few moments where I heard a strong voice, but I think it was a weak performance overall. I am sick of the judges saying, "Not your best performance, but you've got a great voice in there somewhere." How long should we wait for this "great" entertainer to shine? It's been several weeks now and I am yet to be blown away. I think it's time for her to leave. She is so out of her league.
Jason: I didn't really enjoy this performance this week. Just kind of . . . blah. He might be in a little trouble this week.
Syesha: I think she was great! I loved the song choice and she finally did her hair how I like it! She definitely did enough to keep her out of the bottom three.
Chikezie: I actually disagree with the judges on his performance. I was genuinely impressed and I thought he did a great job. Old fashion or not, I thought his vocals were awesome. And I'm glad he showed us a softer side. We don't need another Taylor Hicks who jumps around on the stage week after week and rarely shows a softer side. I thought Chikezie made a smart decision.
Brooke: Nice recovery! I guess that's the best part about playing the piano - you can start over when you need to. I thought she did good, but I (along with the judges) didn't like when the band came in. I would have preferred to hear her bring up the tempo on the piano and jam out a little more. Overall, it was much better than last week. She's still brilliant.
Michael: One of his best performances. He looked comfortable - I loved it!
Carly: One word: desperate. I didn't like this performance. She didn't look comfortable and the song didn't suite her. I felt like it was a desperate attempt to be "cool" and rock it out on stage to try and keep herself out of the bottom three. Unfortunately, I don't know how successful she will be.
David A: What was the deal with that song?! He's a great singer, there's no doubt about that, but I've never heard that song before and it was uber-cheesy. He'll be safe though, but he needs to step it up if he wants to stay the front-runner!
Kristy: Wise choice of song. How can you possibly be voted off when you sing that song?! I thought that this was her best performance so far. She sounded pretty good and I think she will be safe this week. She might be in the bottom three, but I don't think she'll be the one to go. But what do I know???
David Cook: WOW! AWESOME! INCREDIBLE! LOVED IT! WHERE AND WHEN CAN I BUY THE SINGLE?!?!?!?!?!?

Predictions:
Bottom Three: Based on this week's performances, I think it should be Ramiele, Jason, and Carly. Ramiele seems to have a huge fan base though. I think Chikezie and Kristy might find themselves in the bottom three, but I personally think they did well this week.

Tonight's show!

I thought that David Cook was amazing, of course!  :)  (He does have a very large forehead!  lol)  I didn't even realize what song it was until after he was finished.  I would buy his version for sure.  The Micheal Jackson version was one of my favorite songs when I was a kid!  :)

I am not a fan of Carly, but I thought she did great tonight!  Of course Brooke and David A. did well.  Has anyone ever heard of the song that David A. sang?

I am thinking that Ramiele (I missed her, but I wasn't impressed by the recap), Chikezie (It was boring to me - in fact I can't even remember what he sang), or Jason will be going home tomorrow!  (But will probably end up being Kristy.)

So what did everyone else think of song choices/performances tonight?   I don't have a lot to comment on tonight.

Jenny's Thoughts on Top 11

Tell me why American Idol would decide to do The Beatles again when last week was bad? Arg, I should have known I was in for a long night. I am always excited for the nights when American Idol is on, but last night's two hours really seemed to drag. Maybe it was all of the time-stretching and in-show commercials that made it seem long.

Although I did enjoy more of the performances last night than the week before, I was still disappointed in the night. Let's get to some themes that the contestants can really shine on! I can't wait to hear what next week's theme will be.

Here's my low-down for the night:
Amanda - It wasn't as screechy as her previous performances, but I still didn't enjoy it. And what's with the sudden attitude with the judges? I don't like her. I can't wait to see her go.
Kristy - I actually thought it was a much better song selection for her. I thought she sounded better than what the judges gave her credit for. I enjoyed it, but she's still not as strong as many of the others. She doesn't know how to connect with the song, and really isn't a great performer.
David A. - Yeah, baby! He's back! I thought the performance was great. I agree with Megan though...he does blink a lot. He's still a brilliant singer though. A "master-class" as Simon says. I was sweating bullets though as he was performing because I was worried that he'd forget his words again. I'm so glad he didn't.
Brooke - Honestly, the yellow dress and the yellow backdrop was a little much considering she was singing about the sun. I could tell that she felt totally awkward up there. She sounded okay, she just looked uncomfortable. Poor girl!
Jason - I thought he did good, but he was a little cheesy. He is so awkward in his interviews though that it's almost hilarious. I like him.
Carly - Wonderful. I love this song and I thought she did a fantastic job with it. She's an amazing vocalist and I hate the fact that I am liking her more every week. She can sing! I don't really like how they compare her to Kelly Clarkson. They are totally different. Oh well, c'est la vie.
Michael - I thought he sounded good. I hated the song arrangement though and I agree with Simon in that it was much too long of a song to condense into that short amount of time. We lost so much of the song. I thought the tribute was beautiful though. How embarassing that he wasn't wearing an ear microphone when they were talking about it. Oops!
David C. - I didn't enjoy it as much as last week, but it was still really good. He's definitely a strong contender.
Syesha - Much better song choice and performance. I just wish she'd leave her hair how it is! I've hated it the last two weeks. It looked all snarly and nappy this week. C'mon girl, keep it real!
Chikezie - I loved the beginning of the song - I thought he sounded amazing. I think the judges were wrong to tell him to avoid singing slow songs - I think that's where his money-maker voice is! The harmonica seriously had to go. Just because they are allowing instruments this year doesn't mean you have to play one. And even more so, it doesn't mean you have to go learn how to play one~
Ramiele - Um...can't think of much to say here. I didn't like it, I thought she sounded off, and she looked awkward. There. That about sums it up.

MY PREDICTIONS
Bottom Three: Ramiele, Kristy, and Michael.

Going Home: Ramiele. She has just lost that spark and has been vocally "off" for a few weeks. I think she will be leaving us.

The Twilight Zone

Do do do do....

Did anyone else feel like they had entered the twilight zone while watching last night? I seriously think (with the exception of a few performances...thank you Carly, David C. and Syesha) that I was transported to a parallel "American Idol Universe" and it was the absolute antithesis of what American Idol should have been.

The whole thing was just really bizarre to me. Performances were lackluster, contestants were making random, non-coherent comments to the judges (confusing, I know...making those kind of commments is usually Paula's job), and it just felt "off".

I'm a big fan of Beatles songs, but I think (like Brooke said) after such a phenonmenal show last week, it was tough to live up to that standard again.

Here's hoping the Top 10 exit the twilight zone and get back on their game for next week's show.

My prediciton for tonight...Kristy. She's cute, has a decent voice, but is lacking in performance ablilty. We'll see...

Beatles Again

So first off I love the Beatles! But this week was not my favorite week. Like the judges said, they should have left off with the great Beatles week they had last week. I thought Syesha did a great job but was sad I couldn't sing along with her. She did a Whitney Houston to the song by slowing it down and changing it around. I do love thought that the idols are changing the songs around and taking a chance on them. I missed Amanda's performance (which was a good thing). I thought Kristy did a great job but she is just not a showgirl. She lacks energy on the stage. David A did a way better job this week. I think he is one of the best to watch perform but he is kind of goofy in interviews. Trent and I figured out that it was the rapid blinking of the eyes that throws us off. David C was good though I'm not a fan of that version of the song. Eleanor Rigby will always be one of my fav. performances of his. Chikeze did good, I was a little unfamiliar with the song but it sounded good. Though in the end I turned to Trent and said that went a little hick. It was funny that the judges agreed. Ramiele (BORING) is my vote to go if not Kristy tonight. Jason had a great song but was a little out of tune. Brooke who is by far my favorite is a great singer but I can agree that she did have an off night. I was kind of uncomfortable when she kept interrupting the judges. I look forward to her going back to her thing next week. I think that the judges were way off about Michaels performance. Maybe its because I love that song but really he sang it great. I felt bad that the judges ripped into it especially when he did the dedication to his friend. Can we say awkward! I know that Carly isn't any ones favorite, but I love her singing. She has a great personality and is always gracious. I'm glad that she explained why she sang the song. So those are my thoughts on last night's performances. Can't wait to hear what the next theme is.

So, this week....

How did everyone feel about our 11 finalists? Personally, I mostly feel that it was pretty much just an average night. Although not my favorite contestant, Carly's performance was, I feel, the best one of the night. And although I usually agree with Simon, his quip about the blackbird song was kind of out of control. Pointless really. David Cook did really well I thought. And David A. did a much better job than last week. Still not his top performance, but much much better. I also liked Syesha and Chizekie, of course. Brooke's performance - not the greatest, but I still really like her. And I actually loved that she knew that she was awkward and was totally okay with it! So, quick and dirty, that's my lowdown.

Random Question

So, whatever did happen to Melinda Dolittle from last year. (Sorry if I spelled her last name wrong). She was by far one of the greatest things that has ever happened to American Idol. And yet, I haven't heard about her at all since then. Does someone else know?

Next Week's Theme

During the results show last night, Ryan announced, "Due to an overwhelming demand, we will be changing next week's theme so that we can do the Lennon/McCartney songbook again."

Quite honestly I was a little bummed about it. I totally love music from that songbook, but I wasn't completely impressed with this week's performances so I am worried about next week. Especially since David A. struggled so bad this week...having this same theme again might ruin him! Oh please step it up, David!

On the other hand, maybe the contestants will choose better Beatles songs this week. Here's to hoping!

Results Show

As I was thinking about last night's show this morning, I had a feeling that Syesha might be in the bottom three. So I wasn't too surprised when I saw her there, just a little disappointed. I still think she's majorly talented and I definitely think she should be in the top 6 for sure.

Like I said, I wasn't surprised that Syesha was in the bottom after her performance last night, but come on America! Why are people voting for Amanda?! I understand that she's different and unique, and that's great. But when you compare her to the other contestants, talent wise, she doesn't even come close. And Syesha has had many great performances and this is her first not-so-great performance. It's crazy.

I think that Amanda gets a lot of votes from the "Vote for the Worst" website, which I think is ridiculous. People have nothing better to do than vote for someone that they think is bad just to mess up the show for the rest of us? Seriously! Get a life!

Anyway, I'm really not upset about anything, I just needed to vent a little. I am happy with tonight's results, I just would have liked to have seen Amanda in the bottom three, or maybe even Ramiele (based on the last few performances).

I definitely think David Cook is getting up there in the rankings. I still think David Archuleta is the front-runner, and I hope that doesn't change. I hope Brooke places really well, too, because I think she's genuine and very talented.

What did everyone else think of tonight's show?

Side note: Sometimes I wonder what Jim Carrey was like in school (growing up). I honestly picture him to be the most obnoxious kid ever. I totally like him as an actor, but for some reason I was just wondering about that tonight when I saw him on the show. Weird, I know!

Another opinion

Seriously, Ryan was super annoying. And if I had to spend that much time with him, I would probably be a bit moody as well. I can't handle him for 2 hours.

I think I agree with most of you on most things. I did feel bad for David A. It was obvious that he was really nervous. He's only 17. Still just a kid. But I still like him, and I know what he can do. So he's still up there.

Brooke was probably my favorite of the night. I think she's fantastic and I love that she just chills and plays the piano while singing. It's great!

Way to go Chikezie! I totally like him and he stepped it up tonight. He made me proud!

Syesha - maybe not the best song. But I still think she has one of the best voices on the show. And yes, I didn't love the hair style.

David Cook -also did a good job. I like him.

Carly is a great singer. She's just not my favorite. Jason and Michael both did pretty good.

Not so hot performances - Kristy! Wow. I personally felt like that was the worst thing of the night. (Except for Ryan of course). I really don't think she has the talent to compete with everyone else. She's my vote to go. (And my roommate is super annoyed that she totally ruined that song. :) Ramiele - also not so great. And David H. - blah. Amanda still can't sing. So she needs to be off the show soon too.

You are beautiful. You are skinny. I think you have a nice voice and an ability to give an entertaining performance. Please step it up and rise to that ability.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your personality with us tonight. I was very entertained. I am so sorry you had to be present while Ryan jumped around the stage attempting to be a "brother". How awkward!

Ramiele,
You normally have a big voice that escapes from your tiny body. Tonight your voice matched your body...TINY. I had to stick a fork in my eye during your performance to keep myself from falling asleep.

Jason,
I like your voice. I think it is nice. It is, however, difficult for me to watch you sing. You remind me of Sanka Coffie from Cool Runnings. I guess I just can't get past the dreadlocks. Sorry!

Carly,
I like your Irish accent. I like your singing too. I think you will give several contestants a run for it. I did not enjoy your outfit. Nope, not at all.

David C.,
I am thrilled to see you finally opening up and feeling comfortable. I agree you are a "dark horse"...or donkey...or whatever. I like your voice, your singing style and your hair.

Thank you for being real. For playing the piano barefoot. For bringing a presence and maturity to the stage. Oh, and for having an awesome voice too.

I love Australian accents. My kindergarten teacher was from Australia. Did you just smile and give me a Veggiemite Sandwich? Seriously...I like you...a lot. But you are rather predictable. Don't get stuck in a rut, okay?

Oh, Kristy. I think you are down home pretty and genuine. I think you have a pleasant voice. I also think you committed American Idol suicide tonight.

David A.,
I think you're amazing for a 17 year old. I want to pop your head of and hang it from my rear view mirror. I'm sure tonight was hard and intimidating. You didn't do great, but I still like you. Could you do me a favor, though? PLEASE stop licking your lips! Thank you.

Jenny's Thoughts on the night

I agree that Ryan and the judges are crazy. Ryan was definitely on something tonight! When he was dancing around on stage with Chikezie, I had to raise an eyebrow. Weird! Simon seems so moody this year. Doesn't he? Their usual playful banter hasn't been so playful or friendly this year. Just my opinion.

THOUGHTS:
Syesha - Hated the hair - seriously hated it! Flashback to the 80s is all I was thinking. Her performance was just okay for me. Nothing amazing. Too bad!
Chikezie - I thought this was his best performance so far. I think he's safe for at least a couple more weeks. He sure saved his behind!
Ramiele - Snore! Seriously, she ruined this song. This is a beautiful song, but she doesn't have enough life experience to really get in touch with this song and put the correct emotion behind it. It was so boring. I wanted to slam my head into the wall.
Jason - I enjoyed this performance. It wasn't quite as good as last week, but I genuinely liked it. He does pull weird faces sometimes so I closed my eyes and just listened to him sing. He has such a unique voice. I am liking him more every week.
Carly - I've always thought she had a good voice, but I never really liked her. I must admit that I did like her tonight though. Her vocals were good, she looked good, and she seemed confident. I can't say that she's my favorite, but I do think she did well tonight.
David C - Awesome! It was great. I've enjoyed every one of his performances.
Brooke - MY FAVORITE OF THE NIGHT! Not much more to say than that!
David H - Puh-leeze! I agree with Simon in that I think he was trying too hard. I didn't like it at all and so I was glad to hear that the judges agreed with me.
Amanda - Yelling, screeching, mumbling, mess. I hardly understood two words she said. I genuinely hated it.
Michael - I really like him and I thought he did well tonight. I think he has great vocals.
Kristy - Seriously? I really don't mind her, but that arrangement was ridiculous. The band was so sped up and it seemed like she was having a hard time keeping up. I think it might have been ok had it been a little slower. She should have picked a slower song and just sung it purely, with a country voice - not tried to change it up so much. I think she's in trouble this week.
David A - I really was disappointed. First, I was disappointed that he was the last one to perform. Then I was MAJORLY disappointed when he performed. I agree with Simon in that I thought it was a mess. :0( It really did make me sad. I wanted him to really shine! I was also disappointed that he wasn't really familiar with many of The Beatles songs. I still think he has an amazing voice, but this week was not good for him. I sure hope next week blows us away!

Bottom Three - Kristy Lee Cook, David Hernandez, Ramiele Malubay

-I was also disappointed that some of the contestants didn't pick better Beatles songs...anyone agree? I would have loved someone to sing "Hey Jude" and bring down the house!

Is it just me or do Ryan and the judges just get weirder and weirder every week? I think Ryan was a little tipsy tonight.

I was totally looking forward to seeing what David A came up with tonight. I was pretty disappointed. I wasn't impressed with the song in the first place, but then he forgot the words TWICE! I know he was nervous, poor kid. Hopefully he will come up with something he's more comfortable with next week.

I loved, loved, loved David Cook and Brooke tonight. They were awesome. Brooke grows on me more each week. Like Kamie, I think Carly is very tallented, but she bugs me. Ramiele just about put me to sleep. I left the room cause I was so bored. I've never been real impressed with Michael Johns. He's been pretty "forgettable" as the judges would say. He's a good singer, but just not very interesting. I normally don't like Jason Castro (can't stand the dreds), but I really liked him this week. Chikezie and Syesha were okay, but neither are on my list of favorites.

It's interesting that the ones that took Simon's advice from last week totally blew it tonight. I thought he gave good advice, but the contestants went about things all the wrong way. Kristy's version of '8 days a week' was horrendous! UGH! It will definitely be interesting to see who goes this week. My bet is on David H or Kristy.

Just some random things I jotted down during tonight's show.  By the way - I love the Beatles!  Yay!

Syesha - I thought she did alright tonight, but I wasn't blown away.  (But I was running around the house, so maybe I missed something.)

Chikezie - I think he might be here to stay for at least a few more week!  Nice going Chikezie!

Ramiele - I thought her song was pretty boring.  Not a lot of emotion.  It didn't even pull me away long enough to distract me from my MySpace or this blog!  I guess I just don't like her too much.   (by the way - I so wrote all this before the judges talked!  At least they agreed!)

Jason - I thought he did good tonight.  I do really like this song, so that helped.  But I thought he pulled some funny faces!  Ha ha!! :)  But I did like last week better.

Carly - I do not love her outfit.  I think her performance was really good.  But she really bugs me.  I don't have a lot to say about her.  :P

David C - I LOVE Eleanor Rigby.  I am excited to see what he does with it.

Sheesh - I am hungry!  Guess it'll have to wait.  :)  

Back to David - I really loved it closer to the end. . . but I thought there were a few not so great places in the beginning of the song.  But all in all - it was great!  Nice David!  And - I still love the song!  Yay!  He did awesome!  

Brooke - She did awesome, as usual.  I think she has an awesome voice!  

Here is my side note during the commercial.  I WANT an iPhone.  I LOVE them.  They are so convenient and handy to use.  I had one for 2 days.  It was a sad day when AT&T did not deliver as promised.  (No, Richfield does not get good service - even if they tell you they do!!  Most of the time I had No Service, other times I had FULL service, no consistency.)  Booo AT&T.  I had to take my iPhone back.  Such a sad day.  Those commercials make me sad.  :(  

Okay - back to IDOL!

David H - just blah.  I do not love him either.  Guess that is why I never remember who he is.  I don't think he'll be around too long.  

Amanda - It was alright.  Better than two weeks ago!  :) 

Michael - It was pretty good.  He'll be here next week, I'm sure.  

Kristy - I like her!  I thought she did good.  I liked that she tried something different.  I am sure Randy will hate it!  But I liked it alright.

David A - It was good - but I didn't love it.  For sure not his best performance.  He forgot too many words.  :(

So my favorite performances of the night were David Cook and Brooke!

I think that Ramiele or David H. will be going home tomorrow.   But I am thinking Ramiele.  (Or maybe Kristy. - I don't know).

Okay, so I know that it's too early to predict, but I want everyone to make guesses on which place each contestant will finish in. It will kind of be like the March Madness predictions you would make for basketball, but we'll just do it for Idol! I want everyone to participate! I know that we will all get a bunch wrong, but I think it will be fun to do!

Thank you for picking an AWESOME Top 12! This might sound rude, but I was so happy to see Danny go home tonight. When it came down to Danny and Chikezie I was like, "Oh please let it be Danny!" I started jumping up and down when Ryan read the results. I'm a dork, I know. He just drove me nuts. Danny would make a beautiful woman though ;0)

I wasn't too surprised about the girls. I figured Amanda would squeak in there and I had a feeling that Asia'h would slip through the cracks. It's unfortunate, but I saw it coming. I'm just incredibly happy that all my favorites made it.

And what was the deal with Paula tonight? They need to tie her to her chair - she's nuts! Ha ha ha!

Of course, I knew my favorite, David A. would stay. He's just really good. :) We like him around this place. I'm very happy to see Danny go. He just irked me a little. I wasn't surprised to see Luke go either. Although, my lil' man, Steven, loved dancing through the song "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go."
For the ladies, I wasn't surprised to see Kady Malloy go. I was a little shocked to see A'siah go, but oh well. I'm not America, I'm only me!

Blake Lewis

So as I sit here and watch the Results show - I'm wondering - is anyone a fan of Blake Lewis?  Last year I thought he was entertaining and fun to watch and I really like him, but I am glad he didn't win.  I knew I would never go out and buy his album.  But I really didn't like the song he just sang.  I was kinda disappointed in Blake.  I expected more from him.

Anyone else have an opinion about Blake Lewis?

Judges Comments

It's funny how we all really do agree with each other on likes and dislikes of performances. This post is just a side note on judges commentary. Trent and I usually watch the performances after kids have gone to sleep. We love watching it this way best. Mainly because of Paula Abdul. If any of you are like me I feel like her comments are a flowery mess. She doesn't make sense most of the time and we tend to cringe through the whole thing. We then are very thankful for the fast forward button. We listen to Randy's comments, then fast forward, then we listen to Simon's comments. They usually make the most sense. If you watch the performers as they wait for the judges comments you can see that they really do want to hear what Simon has to say. It's like his criticism means the most to them individually. Tell me what you all think!!

Jenny's Thoughts on Top 16 Week

I wasn't overly impressed with this week's performances, but I think the girls did better than the boys. Maybe it was the 80s theme that made it hard for the contestants. Either way, here are my thoughts:

Guys: I really enjoyed the performances by David Archuleta, David Cook, and Michael Johns...but then again I usually do! I thought Michael Johns did awesome and I think he's a great performer. I think I liked David Archuleta's performance more than the judges did. I thought he did a great job and it was nice to see him play the piano. I also enjoyed Jason Castro's performance. It was nice to see that side of him and I think he did a great job with a great song (can anyone remember what movie that song was on? "hallelujah....").

Girls: My favorites this week were Syesha and Brooke. I thought Brooke did a great job and I really don't even like that song, so that's good that she impressed me with it. I actually thought we were able to hear more of her vocal talent tonight than on other performances. I thought Ramiele did a great job with her song. Her voice sounded very mature. I really thought Kristy Lee Cook did a good job. No, her vocals weren't perfect, but I did enjoy her performance.

Bottom Three Guys: This one is a little bit hard to call. I think for sure that Luke Menard will go home. I think Danny Noriega should go home, but I don't think he will. He's the "Sanjaya" of this year, unfortunately. I think it could be David Hernandez could go - mostly because of the new information that has recently come out about him. Which is unfortunate because he's a good singer. I like Chikezie and I don't think he should be in the bottom, but I wouldn't be surprised if America votes that way. Jason Castro might slip through, too. It's really hard to call!

Bottom Three Girls: As was the case the last three weeks, I think Kady Malloy should and will be going home this week. I would be happy if Amanda Overmyer went home, too, but I'm worried she might stay (for the same reason Danny might stay). I wouldn't be surprised to see Asia-h in the bottom three. I like her, but I can see her falling by the wayside.

Top 16 Week

Okay, apparently I'm going to be the first one with some input. Tonight - Tuesday - guys night. How did it go.... David Archuleta, our resident favorite, didn't do quite as good as usual. But still good of course. Next two favorites: David Cook and Chikeze. Thought they did a pretty splendid job. Those were my favorites of the evening. Who's going to be in the top six. I think those three. Probably Jason Castro. Michael will probably still be there. Needing to go...Luke is the number one needs to be gone. The other spot is between David Hernandez and Danny. They are definitely in the bottom three. But, just my opinion. Overall, not quite as quality as 70's week. But, oh well. We'll see how the girls do tomorrow.
