First of all, thank you for keeping this blog going! I have been Missing In Action for the last half of the season because my computer got a virus and died. Very sad. I'm grateful that you all kept up the chat without me and that someone kept the blog up-to-date. You are all great!

I just have to say that I really wished Danny would've been in the finale, but I'm still grateful that Kris beat out Adam. All that really mattered to me is that Adam didn't win. Danny was my boy though! Oh well. It seems like my favorite person is never the actual "Idol" but they still always do well. C'est la vie!

Let's all hope for a great season next year. I hope Simon sticks around and I'd love to see Kara stay, too. As for Paula, I wouldn't really miss her.

So that's the down-low from the J-Ro.

Woot! Go Kris!

Okay, so I'm totally happy with the results of our this year's American Idol. Granted, I would have loved a Danny/Kris final. But then I might have been somewhat sad whoever won since I like them both so much. So this way, I just got to be really excited that Kris won. Woo hoo and way to go!

Crazy week on idol! I love Matt but am not sure if it was too soon to use the save. Does anyone else think that whoever is styling Adam needs to stop the skinny jean look. Adam is not skinny enough to pull it off and looks very unflattering (in addition to the eyeliner :)

Okay, I missed the show Tuesday, but after seeing Megan's performance on last nights results show, I can see why she went. I actually like her voice and usually don't mind her, but seeing that disaster last night, I am not sad to see her go. What WAS that?? The girl has no rhythm. She needs to stand still when she sings.

Lady Ga Ga...I had never heard of her before, and after seeing her last night (and I hope I don't offend anyone here who may like her) I am not sad about that. She's a freak. And so are the spastic dancers she was with. Holy moly.

The Poofy Mullet

I'm confused . . . is the poofy hair that looks like a mullet back in style? Please tell me no or I might start crying right now! Is this Miami Vice or American Idol 2009???

Besides the poofy mullet, tonight was a pretty decent night. I thought Danny Gokey was amazing - I even teared up a little. Kris Allen was good and I'm starting to like him more and more every week. That's a good thing! I thought Lil Rounds looked a lot older than she is. Gag - like almost 40! It's just sad because she's so young.

I'm too tired to talk about anyone else . . . I'm still obsessing over the hair. Gross!

I love you and your voice is brilliant. You sang beautifully tonight. Even Randy Travis was in awe.

Gag Me with a Pitchfork...

Adam Lambert is utterly gross! His song tonight was ridiculous and it LITERALLY made me want to puke. I seriously think I felt a little vomit slowly rising as he sang. BARF!

Michael - You're a likable guy and all, but you're just really not even close to one of the better singers in this competition. Sorry about it.

Allison - You have a good voice, but not super impressed.

Paula - How wasted are you???

Kris - Okay, I totally like this song, and I thought you did awesome!!!! Totally voting for you!

'Lil - The chorus rocked. The verses struggled just a little bit

Adam - Blehhhh... I just threw up in my mouth. You, Adam, are super creepy. Please leave my stage and go be in a horror movie or something. What on earth were you thinking with that song? Psycho!!! (I do have to love that Randy Travis was just like, uh.... and that Simon said people were throwing their tv's out the window. Yes Simon, it was Horrific!!!!)

Scott - You're okay, but not one of my favorites.

Paula - are you drinking more during commercials? Wow.

Alexis - nothing overly impressive, but not bad

Anoop - Wow. Zero to Hero. Way to go!

Megan - A better pick for your voice than others so far. I guess since you're sick I'll give you a bit of a break on the breaking of your voice. Not too bad overall.

It's killing me...

Okay, I need help. Von Smith looks like somebody. It's not Clay Aiken, it's not Donny Osmond. It's some character from some movie/tv show or something. Like something weird. Did you see his hair tonight? Sticking straight up in front? It's just crazy. We've been thinking maybe an oompa loompa or a who from whoville or something, but I can't figure it out. If any of you have figured it out, please tell me. I may not sleep all night.

I always like to root for a local, but it seemed to me like by the time you warmed up and conquered your nerves, the song was over. I thought you sounded good for the last 1/4 of the song, but I don't think it was enought to get you through.

You are full of personality and you make me laugh, but your singing leaves something to be desired. If this were American Karaoke, I'm certain you would win.

You are charming, talented and likeable. You sing effortlessly and with passion. And while I appreciate your diligent attention to the judges advice about your accent, I would love to hear you sing with it.

I wonder how many more jokes the judges will make about your name this season. What an amazing talent. You have confidence, prescence and appeal. I also love your consistency. I think your performance was the best one of the night.

I like you better with your piano. Tonight's performance just fell flat for me. You lacked stage presence. I also think you should have picked a Billy Joel song.

My goodness! Where were your pants tonight? This is not the first time this season I have been distracted by a contestant's wardrobe. I honestly cannot recall what you sang or how it sounded. If it was good, then good for you. If it wasn't, then I guess it's back to bar tending for you.

Nick/Norman-Mitchell/Gentle~
It's kinda sick and twisted...but I like you. You make me laugh. You are memorable. You are funny. You are original. And you can even sing...kind of. I'm not exactly pulling for you to make it through, and I'm sure there are people out there who are livid that you got through to the Top 36, but you are very entertaining and hilarious.

Allison~
Way to rock it! I CANNOT believe you are sixteen years old. You look and sound much older. I like you...a lot!

Kris~
I enjoyed your performance. I think it was brave of you to take on a MJ song. But you sang it well. You have a nice look, confidence and personality. And your nose isn't falling off!

Megan~
It's definitely fun to have a local girl to root for. I think you are very pretty, sing well and exude confidence. However, I am not a fan of your awkward "dancing".

Matt~
You seem like such a nice guy. And the family man thing does appeal to me. I was a bit confused by the slow-ish version of the song and the agonizingly slow dance moves that didn't exactly go with it.

Jesse~
Solid, good, safe performance. I like your sound, your look and your voice. I also like that you are self-assured and can have a coherent conversation with the judges as they critique you.

Kai~
You are talented but you don't stand out. I was rooting for you a bit because of your heart wrenching story, but I think you needed to knock it out of the part tonight in order to get through. You didn't.

Mishavonna~
Take two. You got a second chance. I'm inclined to say you blew it. You can definitely sing, but your song choice was abysmal. It took you 3/4 of the song to even get it going and then it was over.

Adam~
You have some serious pipes, dude. I like your look and your versatility. Your experience shows. It doesn't hurt that you're in Wicked, which is possibly my favorite musical ever.

I have no idea what you sang or how you sang it. I was too distracted by your most hideous outfit. Were you planning on teaching an 80's style aerobics class after you sang?

Ricky~
Very, very nice. Your song sounded beautiful and you performed it quite well. It is possible that you lack star quality, but you can definitely sing. And seriously...are you related to Greg, Peter and Bobby? No, wait...that was the BRADY Bunch.

Alexis~
You have a strong soulful voice. It is rather big and unexpected coming from such a small body. And speaking of small bodies, it's a good thing you have one. That lingerie you wore tonight wouldn't have looked nearly as good on me.

Brent~
You're a good looking, charismatic guy. I like that you weren't afraid to define yourself and commit to the country realm. You have a nice voice and good stage presence. That said, I think you're headed back to Hicktown.

Stevie~
Oh. My. Goodness.
Now that was rather a disaster wasn't it? In your defense, you are quite young and it seemed like you were scared spitless. Hopefully you can build your confidence and give this adventure another try.

Anoop~
You seem like a really nice guy. I think you have a good voice. It reminds me of all the boy band singers from the late 80's and early 90's. I think if this Idol thing doesn't work out you should start your own boy band. Maybe you could call it "Anoop Kids on the Block".

Casey~
You are a beautiful girl, no doubt about it. Your song was not beautiful at all. Your facial expressions and awkward dancing were distracting. I was truly concerned that you were going to swallow that shiny new microphone.

Michael~
The hard workin' blue-collar family man thing really appeals to me. So does your energy and obvious love for your talent. I agree that you could have performed your song a bit better tonight. I'm worried that you're going to be headed back to the playground and the oil rig.

Ann Marie~
You are gorgeous. It's too bad this isn't a beauty contest.
Two words...Big song. Two more...Medium voice. Final words...Buh bye.

Dang it! You just can't seem to get it together. How many chances do you get?

I wanted so badly to hate you tonight. But I didn't, at least not totally. There were moments of redemption in your song. It is obvious you can sing when you try. Just one question...have you ever seen the movie The Three Faces of Eve?

Danny~
Wow. Just wow. I thought it was FAN. TAS. TIC. Out of this group of 12 you're my hero. You sing effortlessly and you are relevant. This is irrelevant, but it doesn't hurt that you have a heart wrenching story to go along with it and your "Idol Rejected" best friend there in the front row to cheer you on.

Night o' Nerves

Wow. What a sad sad showing for the first 12 contestants out of our top 36. Thoughts anyone? I'm sad that I did miss Anoop singing. I'm kind of a fan of his. He's kinda nerdy, but it's fun. :) I hadn't seen Ricky before, but was quite impressed with his voice. Although choosing a song done by Michael Buble is danger zone in my book.
The girls... Struuuuggggglllleeeee. Wow. Sadly, ever so sadly, Tatiana was actually one of the better, if not the best of the girl vocals tonight. And she was kind of acting normal. But don't worry. I'm not fooled. I would still never vote for her. Girl with the pink hair that forgot to wear her clothes (how embarrassing) - apparently they liked her, but I was not that impressed.
Favorite - by far, Danny!!!! I picked him as my probably favorite when I saw him try out. And he's hanging in strong. I thought he did a fantastic job tonight. I guess it was probably helped some by all the other struggle songs, but I thought he did awesome.
Top 3 - Tough decision (and not for a good reason). Definitely Danny; sadly, Tatiana will probably be on one of those websites that get people to vote for the crazy ones. I'm betting it's between Tatiana and the pink hair girl. For the third....I'm going to hope for Ricky. Or maybe even the one guy that forgot his lyrics during Hollywood week. Was his name Steve? Although I do like Mike too. Drats. I'm out of guesses.

Because one is not going to be enough...

I may stick all 300 of these in my eye... Why, oh why, is Tatiana in the Top 36?

I'm this close |-| to diagnosing Tatiana with a mental disorder. Histrionic Personality Disorder to the T.

Group Night

Well, I'm seeing that no one has yet posted about their thoughts on group night (Wed). My main thought - DRAMA!!! Good grief. Do you think the producers of the show realize that people are starting to turn their tv's off because it's getting so annoying? For instance - the "diva's" and Tatiana's group. Oh my. Bikini girl is a skank and should probably be forced to live in a nunnery the rest of her life. And I loved that the girls in Tatiana's group called her a psycho. She kind of is.

As for the good stuff - there was some. That first group, the ones that called themselves White Chocolate, actually were pretty good. And Danny and Jamar's group (which included the girl from Hurricane). They rocked!!!! I have to say, Danny is probably one of my favorites. Even though his voice isn't quite as good as I remember it being from his audition. Oh well. Still good.

Did they show any other good stuff? I just mostly remember getting a headache from the dumb stuff.

Deep Thoughts...

I have been easily distracted by this year's auditons.

While watching (or attempting to watch) I find myself thinking things like...

"Can we just get this show on the road?"

"WHY, oh WHY did half of these peeps even make it to Hollywood?"

"Is that guy's name Nick or Norman? I think he might be Richard Simmons' cousin."

"If 'bikini girl' were my daughter, I would KILL her."

"Did I miss the memo about odd facial piercings? Because, seriously...OUCH!"

"How come Rose doesn't ever wear shoes?"

"What is that hideous mesh on Paula's shirt?"

"Would someone PLEASE make Tatiana stop laughing?"

I confess, have issues! :o)

Really, I just want the show to cut to the chase. I thought it was going to happen until I heard Ryan mention the "Top 36". What the heck?

Come on! My diminished attention span can only take so much!

Here's hoping the Top 36 are captivating...

A little slow this season

Okay, okay. I have to say that I didn't realize we were continuing the blog this season. I should have figured, but sometimes adding 2 and 2 together just doesn't make 4. I haven't been able to watch all of the episodes so far, but I've seen bits and pieces here and there. I have to agree with what I think most everyone has said. There have been some good people, but they have let through some incredibly bad singers. Good grief. But, here's hoping for some serious talent to shine through!!!

Where Are All My Posters?

I don't want to be the only person posting on this blog so I haven't posted anything for a bit. I'm dying to hear from all of you (or any of you for that matter). Where have you all gone? Sniff, sniff. Please come back! I miss you!

I liked tonight's episode - Hollywood week. I think the judges are finally realizing that they let a LOT of people through to Hollywood. More than they should have.

And I will BARF - literally - if bikini girl makes it to the top 24. The jig is up!

And what is with this weird guy that dresses all funny with the sweatbands? Can't he just sing normal? His voice doesn't sound too bad, but what is he thinking?!

Anyway, that's my recap. You will all get sick of me soon if I am the only one posting!

Mediocre Singing + Embarrassing Begging = Free Ride to Hollywood

Don't get me wrong, I think we've seen some good talent so far. But have we seen great talent? I'm not so convinced. There have been a few that could really blow me away in Hollywood week so I will keep my fingers crossed that they really shine.

However, doesn't it seem like the judges are letting a LOT more people through to Hollywood this year? The judges only used to give five to ten tickets per city, but this year it seems like they've done about 20 per city. Has the talent really improved that much or do the judges have a different agenda? Whatever the case, let's hope they wise-up during Hollywood week and send the so-so talent packing early (Hello, Sanjaya flashback!).

Maybe it's just me. But that's my opinion.

As far as tonight's show is concerned, I really liked the last two guys that they gave tickets to (the one guy with the David Cook hairstyle and then the black guy who takes care of his mom). They have some good potential.

I was a little lost for words though when they sent the first girl through (the one from Puerto Rico). She didn't have a horrid voice but she was just plain weird. Was it just me? I mean, come on, who laughs like that? And her little album about herself that she gave the judges - weird. Please don't make me listen to her laugh clear into the top 24!

Premiere Recap

As the show started by playing the song, "What a Wonderful World" and showing clips of previous seasons' singers & winners, I felt tears swell up in my eyes. I'm a dork. I know. I don't know if they were tears of excitement that this season was finally starting or if they were tears of emotion as I thought of previous winners and feel-good moments. Either way, it was a little dorky. But there you have it. What can I say? I LOVE this show.

So here's my recap!

New Judge: Kara, who? Ok, so apparently she's worked with some big people and written some big songs. So? Still the same . . . who is she? Honestly, I didn't mind her though. Maybe it will be nice to have another female (hopefully one that doesn't drink before the show) as part of the panel. Time will only tell.

Big-Haired Vietnamese Guy: I think maybe he's confused about which ethnicity he really is. I think he's the first Asian guy I've seen with an afro. Ever. He had a cute personality, but I'm definitely glad he didn't make it any further.

Rocker Girl: Ok, she was authentic! I thought her voice was really good and it could be awesome to have a rocker girl on the show. I wasn't crazy about the huge holes in her ears, but she could sing. That's for sure. Now hopefully her band will forgive her for making it through.

Wanna-be Rocker Guy: Does anyone have an extra box of kleenex? Poor guy. He's what we like to call emotionally delicate. You have to wonder if he really thought he was good enough. :0)

Local Islander Boy: Gotta give a shout out to my T-Ville hometown homeboy - HOLLA! I thought he was good! Hopefully he is strong enough to stay in through Hollywood week.

Bikini Skank: Gag. Gag me with a spoon! Better yet, gag me with a pitch fork! Let's send her packing ASAP. She is NOT what this show should be about. And she definitely wasn't good enough vocally. And she made really weird faces while she was singing. She disgusts me.

Alien-looking Guy: Ok, so he just looked like a little alien to me. He was the short little guy with the dark hair. He had bangs that swept across his forehead and sounded like an alien when he sang. Sorry, I don't know how to describe him so you'll know who I'm talking about. He was pretty much the worst one of the night though.

Girl w/Pink Cowboy Hat who worshipped the new judge: Kinda creepy. She was way over-the-top with her cheesy-ness (not sure how to spell that or if it's even a word). She definitely sang through her nose. Ew. She wasn't completely hopeless, but definitely not good enough for the show.

Blonde Girl (who sang "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" and didn't have any family with her): Her voice was really good. Definitely had a different kind of rough quality to it. I liked it. Not sure if I loved her, but she had a great voice. Might suffer from the Carly syndrome (aka - great voice but not a ton of like-ability). I could be wrong. I hope so.

Guy with the really, really, really, REALLY deep voice: No way! I can't believe that's his real talking voice! He really should go do voice-overs. Like James Earl Jones type stuff. Wait, maybe his voice was too scary for anything like that!

Blind Guy: What an inspiration! I closed my eyes while he sang and he has a great voice. I really loved it. It will be interesting to hear him behind a piano!

Last, but never the least bit disappointing . . .

Paula: Honestly, girl. WHAT was with the glasses??? She is so strange.
